Pre Season Update 2010-11

March 11, 2010 in Pre Season Update 2010-11

Dear Parents and Players

We have just held our AGM and concluded our 2009/10 season was the most successful in the hsitory of the club

* Our club has been gradually improving over recent years and we took the step to secure a base for our club and to build on the facilities we can provide for our players.
* On 1st February 2009 we took on the lease for Garden City sports field and the pavilion.
* Since taking it on we have already started improvements for next season and beyond to improve playing facilities. So far we have improved the goal mouths on the main pitch, started to create two mini pitches on the raised area for our younger sides, created a kitchen from which we can serve refreshments and snacks on both match days but also for mini tournaments.
* We have also provided professional coaching for the teams over the last year and feedback has shown this has been well received by the players, and we plan to continue to do so for the coming year as well.
* In May we held our club festival and as well as a great day for everyone involved, we also raised 1200 pounds, and the committee would like to thank everyone for helping towards the day.
* We also hire pitches for all our teams to be able to play throughout the year, enter numerous tournaments to improve their skills playing around the region and provide insurance.

The costs are steadily increasing and we need to continue to do these things. So we have to increase our subscriptions for the coming year to ensure we can continue to provide these valuable facilities for our players. Full membership will be 50 pounds and then 30 pounds for siblings. Whilst we will still try to fund raise during the season we cannot rely on this as a source of income.

* We have researched costs at other clubs and these are extremely reasonable annual subscriotion costs.
* these costs cover approximately 35 training sessions, weekend games and organised tournaments and this usually works out at under 50p per visit – not bad value!

We are also concerned that we need to see parents from our younger age groups step forward to help out, as all our current club officers have players in the U13s and older age groups – and so will be leaving over the next couple of years.

It is not an onerous task and the club would really benefit if anyone is able to volunteer to take on any of the roles; fixtures secretary, social secretary, sponsorship and grants co-ordinator, training co-ordinator, grounds facilities co-ordinator.

If you do volunteer to help the club, then, as a token of the clubs appreciation, you would only have to pay the lower membership fee for your child. If you can please contact Gary, Len, Nigel or myself; all our contact details are on this website.

Thank You.
