U12 Champions Season 2007-08

Garden City win the East Gwent U12s league title – Unbeaten with a run of sixteen straight wins. This U12 squad have continued to grow from strength to strength, playing attractive football. The team is now preparing for a football tour to Chepstow’s twin town – Cormeilles, in Normandy, France at the end of May.

MAY 2007

U13s win the League – U15A win the Cliden Cup

The club had a successful season with the U13s team winning the East Gwent U13s League.

The U15A team narrowly missed out on a league title, but won the East Gwent Cliden Cup.

September 2007 – Chepstow Town Council Grant

Chepstow Town Council has provided the club with a grant of 800 pounds towards the improvement of the Hardwick Pavilion in Garden City.

The monies will help the club paint the interior and exterior of the changing rooms and provide shelving for safe storage of fooball equipment. The project will provide much nicer facilities for the young people of Chepstow when participating in football. The project should be completed in October.

September 2006 – Golden Jubilee

Season 2006/07 – Garden City celebrates 50 years of junior/youth footbal

Chepstow Garden City junior football club celebrated its golden jubilee during season 2006-07. It has been providing football for children and young persons for 5o years.

The club has been investigating its history and a number of articles have appeared in the local press during 2007, including how the club started.

To celebrate the occasion, the club’s players congregated at Garden City playing fields during May 2007 to take a 50th year celebration photograph.

Future Football Rule Changes

Football authorities are discussing whether to change the U12s format to 9-a-side games on a 3/4 size pitch using 3/4 size goals. Garden City sees this as a positive move which will aid the development of players.
