Mini Football

  • Maximum size of playing area Goal area – from touchline to touchline Goal Size Size of Ball. Game size Goalkeeper rule
    • Under 7 30yds x 20yds No goal area 6 ft pop up goal Size 3 4 v 4. No goallie.
    • Under 8 30yds x 20yds 5 yards from goal line 12 x 6 Size 3 5 v 5. Goallie can kick out of hands
    • Under 9 60yds x 40yds 8 yards from goal line 12 x 6 Size 4 8 v 8. Gollie can kick out of hands
    • Under10 60yds x 40yds 10 yards from goal line 12 x 6 Size 4 8 v 8. Goallie can’t kick out of hands
    • Under11 60yds x 40yds 10 yards from goal line 12 v 6 Size 4 8 v 8. Goallie can’t kick out of hands.

A mini player can only play a maximum of 60 minutes sanctioned match time in one 24 hour period. This should be broken down into 15 minute quarters for Under 7s,Under 8s and 15 or 20 minute sections for Under 9s, Under 10s and Under 11s.

Competitive Youth Football

Up to 5 subs – A player substituted can become a substitute and allowed to play again

Future Football Rule Changes

Football authorities are discussing whether to change the U12s format to 9-a-side games on a 3/4 size pitch using 3/4 size goals. Garden City sees this as a positive move which will aid the development of players.
